NOTE FROM THE PROMOTER OF BASP #3: SIERRA POINT NIGHT RACE

Remember last year at Sierra Point? No wind, temperatures in the 60's at night? and all that DUST!

Last year we dodged a bullet - dust blowing onto the marina would mean the end of 'cross at this venue. Last November was probably the balmiest day I can remember - abnormally warm temperatures with absolutely no wind to carry disaster onto the boats and parked cars. That also meant, after a dry fall, significant dust in the atmosphere from all the wheel and tire impacts on this landfill. You undoubedtly remember the photos with dust particles floating around.

For both rider comfort and to insure we can gain permission to race on this space again, we're using a 500 gallon towed water tank to soak the course on friday during set-up - and we'll soak it again on saturday morning. We're going to have it on hand to administer special treatment during the evening if we notice areas with potential for continued dust creation.

Will this mean mud? Mud puppies - sorry, but we are going to disappoint you - there will be no mud created and no existing mud spots are going to be part of the course. This is just to control dust for your benefit. There's just a thin layer of dirt over the base of this land, certainly not enough to create those images you might have of Portland or East Coast bogs.

Dog Gone Cross is being held on 11-15-09 in lovely San Luis Obispo, CA!  Team SLO Nexus-Gym One and Team Rambuski Law in partnership with Nimble Creative Events, are proud to be hosting the 10th race on the SoCal Cross Prestige Series presented by Shimano!  A rolling course with a great mix of natural and man-made obstacles await you.   Enjoy riding by the waterside and experience one of the most expansive parks in San Luis Obispo.   A fun little squeeze past the gazebo will tease racers with the smells of Fred Sweeney's BBQ and entice with Central Coast Brewing's kegs on ice.  All around, a fun day out at the park!

Laguna Lake Park is nestled up to Madonna Mountain, aka Cerro San Luis.  It is a migratory stop and home to a variety of waterfowl, hosts picnic and BBQ areas, a children's playground, a sand volleyball court, and the City's commemorative grove of trees.  Races start at 9:30a and go till 3:15p.

Read below for more details on event activities and check www.CenCalCycling.com for continuing updates up to race day!

BBQ will be $8 for a plate including a tasty burger, beans and bread, and soda or water.  Fred Sweeney, Grill Master for over 30 years in SLO County, is back with his scrumptious grub.  Taste Central Coast Brewing's locally crafted beers, or bring your own picnic and hang out with us at the park with your family and friends.

Kid's Kross happens at 2pm- a perfect way to get your children in on the action and make great memories with them.  Yep the little cuties will rock the mini lap! .  We've set up a small course around the playground at the park.  Prizes will go out to all kids   **Meet at the registration tables at 1:30p to sign up and meet for the race at 1:30pm at the registration tables.

All through the day the SLO Bike Kitchen will be set up at the park.  Bring your used bike tubes to the event and the SLO Bike Kitchen will make sure they are sent off to be turned into useful things.  Have any old bike parts or tools you want to get rid of?  The Bike Kitchen can put them to good use in the community.

Reduce- Reuse- Recycle!   Join us in leaving the smallest footprint possible.  Reduce gas consumption – Carpool. Ride your bike in to the event!   Reuse containers.  Bring your own coffee mugs/water bottles to use at the event for beer and refreshments.  Pack out your trash and always be courteous to others using the park.

Hope to see you in San Luis Obispo for some Dog Gone good Cross!
